How FootWedge uses device storage
FootWedge uses a small amount of device storage to keep the site secure, remember your cookie choice, and support features such as in-round scoring. Optional functional storage and optional analytics stay off unless you choose them.
Strictly necessary storage
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
footwedge_session |
Cookie | Keeps a signed-in session active, supports CSRF protection, and helps secure account access. | Session |
footwedge_cookie_consent |
Cookie | Remembers your cookie choice so the site does not repeatedly ask for the same decision. | 180 days |
footwedge-v2-scorecard |
Local storage | Saves in-round scoring data locally when you use the scorecard, including offline use, so the round is not lost during poor connectivity. | Until cleared or replaced |
Optional functional storage
These features stay off unless you allow functional storage in the cookie settings.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
footwedge-v2-settings |
Local storage | Remembers your on-device in-play and notification preferences. | Until cleared |
footwedge-v2-handicap-estimate |
Local storage | Remembers a locally saved handicap estimate on the device. | Until cleared |
footwedge-v2-sporty |
Service worker cache storage | Caches public app shell files for faster repeat visits and installable PWA-style behaviour. Signed-in account pages are not stored in the offline cache. | Until replaced or cleared |
Optional analytics measurement
If you allow analytics, FootWedge can use Google Analytics 4 to understand how public pages are used. Analytics is off by default and only turns on if you choose it. Advertising and personalised ads are not enabled in this build.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* |
Cookie | Used by Google Analytics 4 to help us understand visits to public pages, but only after you grant analytics consent. | Varies by Google configuration |
| Google consent settings | Tag behaviour | Keeps Google analytics and ad-related storage denied by default, then updates analytics only if you choose to allow it. | Applied on each page load using your FootWedge consent choice |
How to change your choice
You can reopen cookie settings at any time using the Manage cookies link in the footer. Turning off functional storage removes optional saved settings and app caching. Turning off analytics switches Google analytics back off.
